PKN Kosice + Inspire Japan

PKN Kosice + Inspire Japan

Kosice is taking part in today’s Global PechaKucha Day – Inspire Japan event, with the city’s Vol. 13 happening at Tabacka Kulturfabrik from 20:20, and as organizer Michal Hladky tells, the evening will revolve around Japanese culture, with a few Japanese presenters as well.

PechaKucha Night in Kosice Vol. 12 is set for March 10 at Kasarne — see the official event page for the full list of presenters. The wonderful poster for the event was designed by Jozef Tusan, who also created the last one.

The next PechaKucha Night in Kosice is happening December 9 at the Tarantino Bar. The event info isn’t up on the site yet, but check in with the official Kosice city page within the next week or so and the list of presenters should be up.

PKN Kosice Vol. 5

We get a double-header from PechaKucha Night in Kosice today, as organizer Miso Hudak sends us reports for both volumes 5 and 6. We’ve also included a few photos from the events, but there’s lots more to see in the following Flickr photosets: Vol. 5 and Vol. 6.

Vol. 5 was a special event, where we invited small NGOs to show their works and projects. We decided to invite all these organization on one night because of past experience. If you bring together organizations who educate kids in poor regions populated by Roma/Gypsy minorities, and after that some great designer shows his plans for a new light airplane you will have mixed feelings. So we chose organizations and individuals who works with handicapped people, minorities, social disadvantaged groups and similar. The audience had the opportunity to focus on different topics like at any other other PechaKucha Night.

It was just last week that we featured a few photos from PechaKucha Night in Kosice Volumes 2 and 3 — as well as those beautiful yellow tickets — and now here’s a look at last month’s Vol. 4, with more to see in this Flickr photoset. All photos are courtesy of Jan Hanusovsky and Myshak.

The Yellow of PKN Kosice

The Yellow of PKN Kosice

The photo above was taken during PechaKucha Night in Kosice Vol. 3 — and you can see the event review that we just posted — but we wanted to highlight it in its own post. There’s something really beautiful about seeing all those yellow tickets for the event, and we’d like to thank the PKN Kosice organizers for all the attention they devoted to giving the evening some nice graphic elements.

PKN Kosice Vol. 3

Kosice’s fourth PechaKucha Night was held just over a week ago, but we never did get a chance to see photos from previous events, something that we remedy now. Organizers Michal Hladky and Miso Hudak also let us know that each event had around 200 in attendance.

Although you’ll recognize the same venue for both volumes 2 and 3 — that would be Kino Usmev — Vol. 4 would be a bit different, taking place at the large East Slovakian Gallery located in the center of Kosice. As Miso says, the new space was inspirational, “so we decided to make a special evening with only painters, sculptors and other artists, including national icon of fine arts Juraj Bartusz.”

PechaKucha Night launched earlier this month in Kosice, with a great showing at the Kino Usmev film theater. All photos are courtesy of Geren Tarasquese and Slavo Stankovic — there’s plenty more in this Flickr photoset.
