PechaKucha Night in Halifax Vol. 9 is coming up, set for December 7 at the Seahorse Tavern, and will be hosted by Will Wood of Picnicface. You’ll find the full list of presenters on the official event page.

You may recognize this poster, as it was one of the most visible examples of graphic design mixing with charity efforts following the Japan Earthquake — and it also acts as the cover to the #quakebook project. The designer is Halifax-based James White, and he was a presenter at that city’s Inspire Japan event on the 16th. Here’s more from PKN Halifax organizer Peter Wunsch:
On a global/local connection, we had Halifax designer James White talk about his Help Japan poster which set off a global poster/graphic flurry of creativity ultimately responsible for some pretty major fundraising efforts. His poster alone has raised north of 18,000.00 $CDN (and stirred a bit of controversy around “cool” imagery being used in the context of disaster).

Halifax is readying its fourth PechaKucha Night, with the event now set for February 16 at the Seahorse Tavern, featuring guest host Gary Markle. As the back of the flyer indicates, seating will be limited, so make sure to show up early.

A snowstorm to end all snowstorms couldn’t stop the first PechaKucha Night in Halifax from happening back in February, and so it should be easy goings for Vol. 2, set for June 14 at the Seahorse Tavern.
