Presentations
The first of our two presentations today, “Inside Wood and Paint: The Heart of Making,” comes from PKN Taos Vol. 3, and sees Patti Tronolone sharing her paintings and furniture pieces, linking the latter to her love of nature. The second presentation is Kotama Bouabane’s “Chinese’s Replication of Orange County” (PKN Toronto Vol. 15) in which he reveals a Beijing suburb that was made to look like Orange County in California.

Posters
We’ve got two new posters on our Tumblr blog today, one for this Sunday’s PKN Lisbon Vol. 14 (above), and one for PKN Kumamoto Vol. 3, which is set for June 1.
Photos
We of course have a few new galleries to share with you today, but also a fantastic teaser video for the upcoming PKN Guimaraes Vol. 2, above (produced by Damnworks).
And we’re not quite sure what the significance of the following photo is (from Flickr user Kalexandersen), but with the title “On stage for a PechaKucha,” it felt natural to include it.

A couple of PK-related links to keep you reading.
Calendar
We covered in yesterday’s post what you can expect from tonight in terms of events (5 PKNs), but for the weekend, Saturday (May 19) will see two Japanese series with new volumes, with PKN Kitakyushu Vol. 6 and PKN Nara Vol. 2. On Sunday (May 20), there’s the aformentioned PKN Lisbon Vol. 14, as well as PKN Mendoza Vol. 4. For a peek at what next week has to offer, have a look at the full calendar.

The next PechaKucha Night in Bogota (Vol. 8) is just a couple of days away, happening this Saturday (May 14) at the city’s Fig.01 Congreso Internacional de Ilustracion (from 19:00 at the Auditorio Leon de Greiff, Pabellon 5A) — you’ll find the full list of presenters with links on the official event page. This event will also be contributing to our Inspire Japan efforts, and a special book of postcards has been produced in collaboration with ph3/estudio, with all proceeds going to Japan aid — that’s the cover pictured below, featuring an illustration by Leo Espinosa. This is a follow-up project to the postcard book created last year to raid funds for reconstruction efforts in Haiti.

PechaKucha Night in Bogota Vol. 7 is set to happen October 7 at the Auditorio Felix Restrepo SJ (at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana). You’ll find the complete list of presenters with links on the official event page. The poster was designed by Francisco Villa, who will also be one of the presenters.

We’ve already praised PechaKucha Night in Bogota’s postcard project for Haiti a few times on PechaKucha Daily — see previous posts for more details — but here’s a chance to show off another one of the illustrations, with the news that a few of the booklet’s participants (Luisa Uribe, Pilar Berrio, David Nino, and Francisco Villa) will be presenting the project at the Salon de Ilustracion el Nogal — more info here.

Let’s now take a look at “Creyendo en Fantasmas,” in which Angelica Teuta shows us how she’s been reviving that art of the diorama. It was recorded at PechaKucha Night in Bogota Vol. 6.

Today’s presentation highlight comes to us in Spanish, courtesy of this presentation by photographer CAMO from PechaKucha Night in Bogota Vol. 6.

We just wanted to share another postcard spotted for PKN Bogota’s postcard project to raise funds for Haiti — read more about the project and how you can order a set in our previous post. The illustration is by Lorena Alvarez.

Today we’re going to highlight a couple of presentations NOT in English, in part to remind everyone that a PechaKucha presentation can be just as lively no matter the language, and whether you understand what is being said or not. Let’s kick things off then with Nicolas Uribe who presented his “Better than Picasso” in Spanish at last month’s PKN Bogota Vol. 6, which was held during our big “Global PechaKucha Night for Haiti” event. The city was able to raise more than $1,500 for the cause, and please feel free to add to the sum if you enjoy Nicolas’ presentation.

You may remember that early last month we posted about Bogota’s postcards project, to help raise funds for reconstruction efforts in Haiti. As a follow-up, the book of postcards — featuring the works of 31 Colombian illustrators, designers, and photographers — can now be flipped through here. To purchase, please send an email to wonksite[at]gmail.com or pechakucha[at]gmail.com (the booklet is sold for 30,000 Columbian pesos, or around US$15).
The organizers behind PechaKucha in Bogota were kind enough to translate the message we posted from Architecture for Humanity founder Cameron Sinclair in Spanish. It’s online here, and we’ve posted it below as well — please share with everyone you know!
