As mentioned in the previous post, we’ll try and share as many stories from the weekend’s Haiti events as we get them. We start with Zagreb, with an event that brought together over 1,000 people, raising 30,000 Kunas (US$5,500) for the reconstructions effects. We’ve included some terrific photos by Domagoj Kunic — there’s more to see in this Flickr photoset — and some details from the organizing team.

Over 1,000 people supported the PechaKucha for Haity event in Zagreb
Our Haiti event on Saturday was a great success. Over 1,000 people attended the event and we raised over 30,000 Croatian Kunas (arround 5,500 USD) which is a lot for Croatian standard. It was the biggest PechaKucha event in Zagreb and it was held in a new recently opened Museum of Contemporary Art. There were 12 presenters from different fields. Among them one of the most famous Europen conceptual artists Braco Dimitrijevic who came to Zagreb from Paris especially for PechaKucha Night. We are also proud of having the Croatian Caritas presenting on this occasion and talking about their activities for helping Haiti. We also had one of the most popular alternative musicians in Croatia Damir Martinovic Mrle, a base player in LET3. But he came not as a musician, but as an ecological sex instructor.
Fashion design duo I-gle talked about how they work, almost without showing their designs. Borut Separovic, a respected theatre director talked about 20 years of his group Montazstroj. Dejan Dragosavac Ruta showed his graphic designs for NGOs. Petar Miskovic was the only architect this time. For the first time PechaKucha Zagreb Night hosted curators, Antonija Majaca and Ivana Bago, and an illustrator, Tomislav Torjanac. An independent book seller Valerij Juresic joined us again, and this time two video and experimental film artists, Ana Husman and Marko Tadic.
For the first time we had moderatos that were not part of the PechaKucha organizing team. They were Mario Kovac, a well known director and actor, and Kono Kazuko, a Japanese living in Croatia. DJs itch&funkguru (cfsn) and VJ ce60 were in charge for the party.
